Members met for a delightful afternoon at the lovely home of a Portland early keyboard enthusiast to hear informal performances, enjoy refreshments and socialize with other early keyboard lovers.
Salem builder Owen Daly brought his instrument, a copy of the 1681 Vaudry in the Victoria and Albert museum, and played a short recital of music by Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre.
Two professional musicians from Eugene also performed:
Julia Brown played Froberger on the Vaudry harpsichord, and
Barbara Baird played music by the modern composer Rudy Davenport on a bentside spinet made by Portland builder, Paul Irvin.
Attendees had an opportunity to try both these instruments and chat with the performers and builders.
The printed program for the event can be viewed here.
