A Video Recording
Premiere Saturday, December 10, 2022, 2pm
On the WEKA YouTube Channel

In a delightfully informal and engaging gathering on October 29, 2022, keyboard enthusiasts visited the Skagit Early Keyboard Museum in scenic La Conner, Washington. Musicologist George Bozarth and fortepianist Tamara Friedman have collected many early pianos in beautiful condition as well as a lautenwerk, harpsichords, and clavichords, a total of thirty instruments. Complete List of the Instruments

George spoke about the instruments and Tamara performed music by Baroque, Classical and Romantic composers on the lautenwerk, a clavichord and a selection of early pianos. Handout for the Event

As one guest commented: It was indeed an amazing afternoon at George’s and Tamara’s! Their piano collection is truly incredible, and Tamara played each one with such expression and sensitivity. George’s commentary was filled with both factual information and delightful stories about each instrument.

The event was covered by Bill Reynolds in the La Conner Weekly News, November 9, 2022: “Music from early keyboard museum floats back to Europe’s classical era.”

Don’t miss the video recording of this very special event, premiering on YouTube December 10th. Thank you to George and Tamara for sharing their love of early keyboards!

The museum welcomes visits from groups of students with their teachers. Students and teachers are invited to bring pieces from the Baroque, Classical, or Romantic eras and play them on instruments appropriate to the time of each composer.
